Tuesday's municipal election runoff results

Following an incredibly unlikely set of circumstances, an election was held in Milledgeville on Tuesday.

In the end, Alan Wicker defeated Lataurien Lewis by a vote count of 22-16 to win the GMC Board of Trustees District 1 seat.

The runoff election cost the city government roughly $4,500 to put on, according to Baldwin County Elections Superintendent's Office figures. In other words, the election came out to roughly $118 per vote.

The two candidates previously tied with exactly 31 votes during the general election earlier this month, which necessitated the runoff. The Walter B. Williams Jr. Park polling station was the lone polling station open on Tuesday, while there were seven days of early voting prior to that. During the seven days of early voting, a total of nine votes were cast, or roughly one vote every five hours.
