The Omicron variant continued to knock an unprecedented number of people out of work and school this week, as new COVID-19 cases in Baldwin County remained at record levels.

Baldwin County averaged between 45–70 new cases per day during the first 15 days of January. Compare that to the first 15 days of December, when Baldwin averaged between 1–2 new cases per day.

The number of people home sick or in quarantine has been dubbed "The Great American Sickout."
