City officers had their hands full on Saturday responding to theft calls and entering auto calls.

A green 2015 Ford Edge was reported stolen from the 720 block of Matheson Road. The vehicle should be fairly easy to spot and has two yellow bumper stickers that read "SWIRRLEY MARBLES."

Meanwhile, three entering autos were reported at 280 East Charlton Street, located across from the old Dairy Lane/Church's Chicken on the opposite side of town. The thief/thieves struck gold in one of the vehicles, finding two handguns and a bottle of prescription medication, according to an incident report.

Another entering auto was reported at The Station on McIntosh student apartments, located between the Huddle House and Doles Boulevard. In The Grove student apartment complex, meanwhile, an entering auto also was reported.

Also, a trucker reported an entering auto on his big rig that'd been parked in the 430 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the American Legion.

Each aforementioned entering auto was reported on Saturday, indicating that the break-ins occurred late Friday night and/or Saturday morning.

Breaking into cars obviously isn't the greatest idea in the world for many reasons. One local man found that out the hard way last month and was sentenced to three years in prison and another 17 on probation, as well as a mountain of restitution.

Ma'Tyious Matthews, 19, received the sentence after pleading guilty to a whopping 48 counts of entering autos, the bulk of which occurred between October 2020 to January 2021.
