ELECTION PREP: Early Voting dates, tips, tidbits and much more

2022 is an even-numbered year, and even-numbered years always mean a relatively heavy voting calendar here in Georgia.

Voting for the May 24 primary election is off and running at the new Carrington Woods government annex, with Early Voting beginning yesterday. A total of 75 early votes were cast at the annex on Monday, according to the Baldwin County Registrar’s office.

All Early Voting is done at the Carrington Woods annex, and none of the polling precincts will be open until voting day, which is May 24.

Please remember, all primary voters must choose either a "Democrat," a "Republican" or "Non-partisan" ballot. Choosing a Non-partisan ballot would be pretty weird and pointless, and there'd only be a small handful of items on the ballot, but it's still an option. However, regardless of which ballot you choose in this month's primary, you can still vote for candidates of either party in the November election, if you choose. Primary elections are party specific, while general elections are not.

Here is the Early Voting calendar:

• Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Saturday, May 7 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Saturday, May 14 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, polling precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, which is election day in Georgia.
