Downtown restaurants were in the process of closing their kitchens on Saturday night when a man decided to break out a glass display case in front of JC Grant Jewelry and snatch three pieces of merchandise, including a $2,100 necklace.

Three women who saw the whole thing walked into the nearby Reel Grill restaurant and told a waiter what happened, according to a Milledgeville Police Department incident report. The waiter/Good Samaritan, identified as Chris Lobdell, then "came outside and saw the man fleeing towards Hancock Street, so he began to chase him." The chase continued to the back of the Century Bank/Ned Kelly's parking lot, which is when and where officers responded.

Seth Cory Walsh, 29, listed with a Macon address, was charged with one count of felony burglary.
