Heat index tops 100 before lunch, hottest yet to come

It was already 90 degrees at 10:30 this morning.

By 11:30, the heat index was over 100.

No doubt, this week is slated to 2022's hottest yet, with the temperature possibly hitting triple digits later this week and the heat index north of 110.

Perhaps the only good news is that the mosquitos still aren't out yet in full force. Aside from that, summer is definitely here in Middle Georgia, and it's not going anywhere for a while.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Advisory for Baldwin and many other parts of the state. Reads the statement: "Please take caution to protect yourself and others from the impacts of the upcoming heat wave. If spending time outdoors, try to limit strenuous activities and wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. If working outdoors is necessary, stay hydrated, and take breaks in the shade as often as possible. Look before you lock, to avoid leaving pets or children in unattended vehicles. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
