This hybrid symposium showcases project results from the Writing for Success grant. Educators, writers, scholars, and students are invited to participate in presentations about implementing an author study in 5th grade classrooms, creative writing and podcasting workshops for students, and digital humanities connections to teaching literacy.
During the symposium, the Flannery O’Connor Institute for the Humanities will release the newly crafted unit of study featuring the texts about Flannery O’Connor for middle grades readers. This unit is aligned with Georgia Standards for Excellence for fifth grade English Language Arts and is open-source and free to use.
K12 teachers who register for the symposium by April 30 can enter to win one of 3 P8 podcasting setups for their classroom!
Writers attending include Mary Carpenter, Kerry James Evans, Acree Graham Macam, Natalie Nelson, Kerry Beth Neville, and Sandra Worsham. Speakers also include local educators Angela Adside and LaShonda Hurst and Writing for Success student mentors.
Registration is available at https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/4a4a60ec33c74605a6ea87219dd3bc05 and there is no cost to attend. The schedule will be made available to registered attendees on May 1.

Partly Cloudy , with a high of 90 and low of 72 degrees. Partly Cloudy for the morning, clear overnight.

I member hearing about this. So incredibly sad. The lady I spoke with couldn’t have spoken higher of the man he was.
"unless someone wishes to make some sort of far-flung statement about their dissatisfaction with both major political parties" omg! YES PLEASE! There's no choices, and they will never allow an independent a fighting chance. Other countries have multiple candidates to choose from.
Any reason why the sheriff rarely makes a statements its alway another Deputy isn’t the sheriff, the elected official in our county?
