Go ahead and grab your best jean shorts and a case of Mountain Dew, because "wrasslin" is coming to downtown Milledgeville.
The October First Friday in downtown Milledgeville, all set for Oct. 7, will feature a professional wrestling event from the Georgia Independent Professional Wrestling Organization (GIWA). The squared circle and seats will be set up in the parking lot between the post office and the Masonic Lodge on Hancock Street.
You and your family can also bring your own chairs to sit in at the event, but you just can't hit any of the wrestlers with them.
"There will also be prizes and free gifts for the first 70 kids to enter the event," according to a Milledgeville MainStreet press release.
Also on the itinerary for the October First Friday is:
• facepainting by Skyla Yates
• Food Fair LLC. will be selling plenty of snack items like funnel cakes, fried Oreo’s, cotton candy, candy apples, and popcorn to enjoy.
• Kona Ice will be there to cool everyone off with their shaved ice.
• PaPa Peanut will be there selling boiled peanuts.
• Several nonprofits will be entertaining the kids with games and activities to participate in, as well.
Patrons also "are encouraged to visit the two newest downtown businesses during the event- Coasties Bakery and Street Treats, both located on South Wayne Street."
Added the press release: "The main event of the night will be the GIWA heavyweight Championship match. 'The Nashville Nightmare,' Chris Nelms has held the GIWA Heavyweight Championship for over 1800 days. On Friday October 7th, patrons will see him defend the championship against 'The Big Game Hunter,' Johnny Camo! Chairs will be provided, but outside chairs are allowed too."
The press release continued : "There will be an autograph session scheduled for the kids to meet and greet the wrestlers along with plenty of merchandise available for purchase."
