More than 1,200 locals have already voted, as early voting setting records
The polls for the 2022 general election officially opened on Monday morning, and it didn't take long for a line to start forming at the new Carrington Woods government annex.
By 6 p.m. Tuesday, a total of 1,276 people in Baldwin County had already "voted early," which compares to roughly 900 early votes on the fist two days in 2018.
The hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
It's safe to say that the Baldwin County Board of Registrars is going above and beyond this year, as Monday marked the first of 13 straight days of early voting here in Baldwin County. Included is a "Sunday voting" day, which will be this Sunday, Oct. 23. In all, there's only one day between now and Friday, Nov. 4 that people in Baldwin County won't be able to vote early, and that's Sunday, Oct. 30.
Oct. 28 is the other day to keep in mind between now and the Nov. 8 general election. Oct. 28 is the last day to mail in an absentee ballot, for those choosing to do so. However, Oct. 28 isn't technically the last day to "turn in" an absentee ballot. Rather, it's just the last day to put one in the in the mail. In other words, voters can drop off an absentee ballot in the ballot drop box all the way up to 7 p.m. on Nov. 8, which is election day. It's very important that you fill in your driver's license number in the appropriate box and also your birthday in the appropriate box. Also, don't forget to give your signature in the proper line at the bottom of the ballot. These are the three most common mistakes that absentee voter make. So, if you want to make sure that your vote counts, pay close attention to the absentee ballot and don't forget to give your signature at the bottom.
