Bizarre incident involving knives, gloves and Roberson Mill Dollar General reported
The description was a "a male riding a bike with knives in his hands."
That's what a city cop had to go on when he spotted a man matching the description riding his bicycle along Roberson Mill on Thursday morning. The suspect – Jadarrus Bernard McDowell – was told to drop the knives, which he did, according to an incident report.
The law enforcement interaction occurred after an employee at the Roberson Mill Road Dollar General called 911 and relayed to dispatch that a man pulled a knife on her after she confronted him about shoplifting a pair of $5 workout gloves from the store. Added the incident report: "(The cashier) asked McDowell if he was going to play for the gloves as McDowell was leaving through the front door. (The cashier) said McDowell turned towards her and brandished a knife, pointing it toward her and said 'I'm taking this' before leaving the location. (The cashier) was able to show security footage of the incident matched her statement."
McDowell was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony.
