Baldwin County recorded its first homicide of 2023 shortly after midnight Thursday, as multiple men barged into the home at 145 Black Springs Road.

In the process, an 18-year-old man was shot multiple times and later passed away at an area hospital. The deceased was identified as Syee Deon Havior, a Baldwin High student.

One juvenile is in custody in relation to the case, while arrest warrants have been issued for two more juveniles, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The incident appears to be a targeted home invasion, according to investigators. Havior and four other people were home when the teens entered the home. The four other occupants of the home were in their bedrooms at the time, added investigators.

Baldwin High School issued a statement on Facebook on Thursday afternoon:

We are heartbroken over the loss of one of our Senior Braves. Syee Havior was a bright soul and we are at a loss without his smile and light. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers. Class of 2023, we know that you are struggling with this tragedy and throughout these next days, know that Braves Nation is with you. As you continue through your final semester, remember the gift of the time you had together and live for Syee.

According to a GBI press release, "preliminary information indicates that after midnight, multiple people traveled to Havior’s home. At least one person entered and began shooting. GBI agents have issued arrest warrants for two juveniles. One juvenile is in custody."

Added the press release: "More arrest warrants are expected."
