Public schools cancelled on Monday following another bad water main break in west Milledgeville

People in the Allenwood subdivision, located across from Baldwin High and near the public school complex, previously were without water for three or four days in late December.

Fortunately, it was the holiday break, and no school days were missed.

That was then, however, and this is now, as another water main break around west Milledgeville has forced the cancellation of all Baldwin County School District schools on Monday. The district hopes to reopen schools on Tuesday, according to a press release.

So, how much water did Milledgeville's municipal water system lose a following a series of water main breaks in late December. Well, for perspective, four different water towers were completely drained –  the one on Roberson Mill Road, the one on Dunlap Road and both on North Jefferson Street.
