Two dogs recently were discovered dead and chained to a tree at 129 Thompson Circle.

Ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals were Douglas Patel Jones, 33, and Danielle Hope Griffin, 23, who both lived at the residence.

Multiple complaints were made to Animal Control. The dogs "had been deceased for some time and were in a state of decomposition," according to an incident report. Some of the neighbors had been concerned for some time, added the report. Prior to the dogs' deaths, several neighbors "would try to feed the dogs" but were "afraid" of Jones.

A conviction for aggravated animal cruelty in Georgia carries a jail/prison sentence of 1-5 years.
