Help light up Lockerly this Christmas, all while sitting on your butt
Lockerly in Lights already is a great holiday event around Baldwin County, and it has the potential to be so much more.
Lockerly in Lights made its debut in November 2020 and came back even stronger in 2021, with dozens of displays and more than 50,000 lights greeting visitors. The driving tour takes visitors around the one-mile loop of the arboretum, all decked out for the holidays. The centerpiece is always the 258-fo0t "tunnel of lights" that runs alongside the property's pond.
Last holiday season, there was no Lockerly in Lights, as the property was a construction zone and the road running through the arboretum was in the process of being paved.
Now, though, Executive Director Jennifer Pollard says that Lockerly in Lights is coming back bigger and better than ever this holiday season.
"We can't wait," said Pollard. "We are looking to be open for additional days and add a host of new features."
Lockerly in Lights largely is made possible by financial donations from local businesses and private citizens. There's now an additional way that people around town can help, as Pollard recently created an online "Amazon Wish List," which can be viewed by CLICKING HERE. Among the items on the wish list are drop cords, laser lights, ornaments and rebar lights.
Wrote Pollard in a letter to the supporters: "As you know, we are bringing back Lockerly in Lights this year, and our plan is to make it bigger and better than ever! In order to accomplish this, on the scale that we desire and that you deserve, we need your help. We are making the investment in the lights themselves. If you can help us with the infrastructure to make sure the lights are hung safely and securely, we would greatly appreciate it!
