Weather predictions are just that – predictions.

Regardless, here is a composite of weather forecasts for Wednesday here in Baldwin County (as of 6:30 Tuesday afternoon), as Hurricane Idalia moves through the Gulf of Mexico before hitting north Florida and then slicing back out into the Atlantic Ocean like a terrible golf shot.

The National Weather Service predicts "Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

The Weather Channel has the chance of rain at 100 percent with 100 percent humidity, to match. "Showers and thunderstorms likely. Potential for heavy rainfall. High 76F. Winds NE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected."

Accuweather has a significantly more provocative and sensational forecast for Wednesday. "Wind and bands of rain from Hurricane Idalia; flooding, power outages and isolated tornadoes."

Microsoft calls for heavy rain to roll in around lunchtime, with wind gusts reaching upwards of 30 miles per hour on Wednesday afternoon.

Hopefully, Accuweather is just the worrier out of the bunch and being overdramatic.
