FAKE NEWS: New storage unit/urgent care megaplex slated for 441/North Columbia

In news that never actually happened and is completely farcical, a Florida-based development group this week announced its plans to build an ambitious new commercial development along the North Columbia Street business corridor.

The new six-acre development will include 72 state-of-the-art storage units, as well as a 24/7 urgent care center.

"Super excited," said Rhett Williamson, president of Three Palms Partners, the Florida-based development group that is behind the project. "Our market research revealed a serious shortage of storage units and urgent care centers in the Milledgeville market, and we think that this will fill a need in that area and provide some much-needed storage units and urgent care centers that the entire community can use and enjoy."

Williamson added that his company considered several names for the new development before ultimately settling on Pneumonia Yards at Old Mattress Crossing.

"We think that Pneumonia Yards at Old Mattress Crossing really encompasses the scope of the project. We don't want Pneumonia Yards at Old Mattress Crossing to be just another building. We want it to be a lifestyle," he said.

The project will be completed in phases, with Phase 1 covering the aforementioned storage units and urgent care cetner. Phase 2, meanwhile, is slated to include a rooftop Waffle House restaurant with patio seating.

"The rooftop Waffle House will be a fantastic place for the community to gather. The views will be spectacular. You'll have some of the best views of other storage units and other urgent care centers that you'll find anywhere in Georgia," Williamson said.

Three Palms Partners also recently purchased another tract of land along North Columbia, with plans to eventually construct an underground Dollar General/liquor store combo commercial development, which will be the first of its kind in Georgia.

"The underground Dollar General will be a game-changer for this community," Williamson said. "The store will feature Clover Valley and all of the other great brands that Dollar General customers have come to expect, but we'll also be introducing some new brands – like Jack Daniels and Jose Cuervo."

A groundbreaking on the new underground Dollar General liquor store is expected to be held later this year.
