Mr. Thomas Lee Whipple, Jr., of Milledgeville, Georgia entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Emory Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Jordan Stream Baptist Church, Toomsboro, Georgia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Whipple, several children, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Irene Minnie Bier Watson Wilson, 98, passed away on August 23, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Wilson was a native of New York, NY. She joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Pensacola where she married. Her family moved to Dayton, Ohio an the back to New York before settling in Georgia in 1958. In the 70's, Irene married Dave Wilson and moved to Thomaston where she spent 30 years before moving to Madison where she would spend 8 years. Her most recent time was spent in Milledgeville. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, H. David Wilson; daughter, Jeane Rowene; grandchild, Mark B. Watson; and brother, Carl Bier. She was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Thomaston and had attended Pennington Methodist Church in Madison.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her sons, John Watson (Renia) of Madison; Scott Watson (Mary) of Texas; grandchildren, Stacy Yarrington, Scotty Watson, Shane Watson, Callie Watson, and Nichole Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Thomaston, or to Pennington Methodist Church in Madison.

Mr. Henry Sampson, Jr. Harrison, Georgia departed this life on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Sampson Family Cemetery, Harrison, Georgia.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Emmie Sampson; his children, siblings, other relatives and friends.

James “Jim” Erwin Herren age 79, was welcomed in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Services will be held on Sunday, August 29th at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Scott officiating, the family will begin to receive friends at 1:00 p.m. with the Memorial Service following at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Herren was born in Athens, GA, July 31, 1942, to Willie J. Herren and Mary Frances (Williamson) Herren. He grew up in the Atlanta area and began his career with Sears Roebuck & Co. and finished with the National Gypsum Co. He lived in Orlando, FL for 9 ½ years before returning to Lawrenceville for 36 years and retired as General Manager of the Southeast District. After retirement Jim lived in Lawrenceville and volunteered with Gwinnett Medical Center as a parking lot attendant-driving the golf cart to assist patients and elders (everyone wanted to ride with Jim). He was very active throughout his life, he loved spending time with family! He had a passion for baseball, boating (Captain of the Docksider) and was an avid tennis player. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had the best sense of humor and was full of honesty & integrity. When he spoke, people listened! He was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill Herren and Darryl Herren.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years Sheila Montgomery Herren of Milledgeville, his son James Erwin Herren Jr. (Julie) of Snellville, his daughter Kimberly Herrin (Jerry) of Milledgeville, a brother Richard Herren of Atlanta, a sister Robin Sievers (Keith) of Jasper, two sisters-in-law Marsha Herren of Milledgeville and Betty Herren of Shallotte, NC, six grandchildren Ashley Herren Stewart (Bryan), Tessa Shea Roman (Hector), James Erwin Herren, III (Hannah), Lindsey Brooke Pate (Chris), Jacob Forrest Herren, Jenna Nicole Herren, and six great grandchildren.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in the name of Jim Herren.

Mrs. Evelyn Pollard Luton, 70, passed away on August 21, 2021. Private Graveside Services will be held at Heritage Memorial Park with Rev. William Morgan officiating.

Mrs. Luton was a native of Glastonbury, CT and lived in New York before moving to Milledgeville in 1989. She was the daughter of the late Wesley Pollard and Jeannette Buchanan Pollard and had retired as an Assistant District Attorney with the Ocmulgee District Attorney's Office. She was a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Ocmulgee Circuit Bar Association and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Reg Bellury; son, Allen Luton of Macon; daughter, Jessica Luton of Athens; sister, Barbara Rountree of Cape Cod; and niece Sally Rountree of Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy Mae Tolbert, Milledgeville, GA departed this life on Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.
