A 21-year old with a Carrollton address was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield following a two-car accident involving a Milledgeville Police Department patrol car last Friday afternoon.

Both vehicles sustained relatively serious damage to their front ends. The officer was "taken to Navicent Health Baldwin," according to the accident report.

The Georgia State Patrol was called in to oversee the accident investigation, based on the fact that a MPD officer and a patrol car were involved.

The driver "at fault" was listed as Hunter Mikaya Cantoral. Cantoral's black Infiniti Q50 "was traveling south on North Columbia Street (towards the Goodie Gallery) in the left turning lane and (the patrol car) was traveling north in the right northbound lane."

Meanwhile, a blue Toyota pickup truck was driving west on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the direction of the hospital. Added the accident report: "(The Infiniti) failed to yield as it turned left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. (The Infiniti) struck the front driver side of (the patrol car)."

The patrol car then "traveled eastbound onto Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, striking (the blue pickup truck) in the front bumper with it's driver's side area. After impact, (the Infiniti) traveled northbound several feet and came to an uncontrolled final rest in the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and North Columbia Street facing north."

Added the accident report: "After impact with (the blue pickup), (the patrol car) continued to travel east onto the east curb of North Columbia Street coming to an uncontrolled final rest on the east sidewalk of North Columbia Street facing north. (The blue pickup) backed up after the collision with (the patrol car) and then came to a controlled final rest in the right turning lane of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive facing west."
