Lucious Justice // August 28

Mr. Lucious Justice, Milledgeville, Georgia departed this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the local hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Pearson Chapel AME Church Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.

Mr. Justice is survived by his wife Mrs. Anna Justice; his children, other relatives and friends.

Bobby Ralph Wood, Sr., 85 // August 28

Bobby Ralph Wood, Sr., age 85 passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31st at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Story officiating. Burial to follow Beside the Still Waters at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Wood was a native of Ideal, Georgia but had made his home in Milledgeville. He was a Master Electrician with Georgia Power Company and retired from Harllee Branch. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joel Henry Wood, Mary Lou Kelly Wood, his wife Glenda Ann Taylor Wood and a great grandson Hayden Pevey, brothers and sisters, Clarice Newsome, Lotice Bryant, Joel Wood, Malcom Wood, and Everett Wood. He was a member of White Water Baptist Church.

Survivors include, two sons, Gator Wood (Melanie) and Bobby Ralph Wood, Jr., two daughters, Dianne Sibley, Sheila Wood, a special daughter-in-law Heather Wood all of Milledgeville, a brother Roy Wood, grandchildren: Mitch Pevey (Toni), Michael Pevey (Brittany), Bret Sibley, Alicia Sibley, Jessica McDade (Steve), great grandchildren Hunter Pevey, Harlee Pevey, Jase Pevey, Mason Pevey, Landon Pevey, Aiyden Pevey, Rebekah McDade, Samuel McDade, Dallis Sibley, Wesley Sibley, Savanna Hope Sibley.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home. Friends who wish may make contributions to Serenity Hospice.

Hugh Oscar Walton, 71 // August 27

Hugh Oscar Walton, age 71, of Gray, and formerly of Sparta, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021. Graveside services for Hugh Walton will be conducted on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Sparta City Cemetery.

Hugh was born on January 20, 1950 in Greensboro, GA to the late James Thomas “Slim” Walton and the late Blanche Elizabeth Whitehead Walton. Hugh could never sit still. He was constantly working, spending time with his family, or busy with yardwork. He loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren, as they were his reason for living. He would often work multiple jobs, but always made it a point to come home, even if only long enough to tuck his children in at bedtime each night. Hugh was a member of the Sparta Baptist Church, and had served in the Army National Guard.

Hugh is survived by his wife of 47 years, Candy Walton of Gray (formerly of Sparta) ; his son, Oscar Walton of Gray ; his daughter, Tami (& Nathan) Cohn of Richmond, TX ; his grandchildren, Haylie and Hollie Walton, both of Gray, and Grayson and Colton Cohn, both of Richmond, TX ; his siblings, Mary Brooks Warren (& Brick) of Indianapolis, IN, Jimmy Walton (& Nancy) of Milledgeville, and Tonya Thurman (& Tom) of Sparta ; and a brother-in-law, Russell C. Poss, II.
