^^^ Celebration of Life for Mr. Grady Olin Derrick age 74 will be conducted Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2 P.M. in Liberty Chapel with Rev. Ron Drowdy officiating. 

Mr. Derrick was a native of Johnson county and had made his home in Baldwin County for the past26 years. He was retired from K.C. Eady construction company and was a member of Liberty Chapel. He was predeceased by his parents, Cleveland and Edith Riley Derrick a sister Linda Duffie and a brother Randy Derrick.

Survivors include:

  • his wife, Starene Dahlstrom Derrick of Milledgeville
  • children, Daniel Derrick of N. Augusta, S.C., Michael Derrick, Tammy Fatcher, Dana Brown (Charles) of Milledgeville, Gena Goff (Tony) of Eatonton and Greg Stewart (Bonnie) of Milledgeville
  • brothers, Raymond Derrick (Jeanette of Johnson, S.C. and Lester Derrick (Polly) of Saluda, S.C
  • 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.

^^^ Martha Helen Locke Sammons, age 88, of Milledgeville, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021.

Helen was born in Dublin, GA on August 16, 1933 to the late David Flournoy Locke and the late Mary Etta Edwards Locke. Helen lived in Atlanta, Georgia prior to marrying Mark Sammons in 1956. After marrying, the couple moved to Dublin, Milledgeville, and Fayetteville before settling in Tennille, Georgia in 1977. She was a member of Tennille Baptist Church for 40+ years where she was active in WMU. Helen was also an active member of Women of Georgia Power. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, singing in the church choir, and watching the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sammons was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Guy Sammons; her brothers, Alfred, David “Bubba” and Bobby Locke; her brothers-in-law, James Harmon, Bill Stuckey and Clinton Warnock; her sister-in-law, Polly Locke. Helen preceded her sister, Emma Jean Stuckey, in death, by less than 24 hours. 

Helen is survived by:

  • her son, David Sammons (& Nancy) of Milledgeville
  • her daughter, Carol Miles (CDR James L. Miles, Jr. (Larry)) of Savannah
  • her sisters, Frances Harmon of Atlanta, Linda Warnock of East Dublin, and Dorothy Beasley (& John) of Jesup
  • her sister-in-law, Edith Locke of O'Brien, FL
  • her grandchildren, Chris Sammons (& Lori), Thomas Sammons (& Andrea) and Mary Elizabeth “Meg” Payne (& Elias)
  • her great grandchildren, Logan & Olivia Sammons
  • and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. ^^^ Teresa Hannagan Baker, age 69, of Milledgeville, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Funeral services for Teresa Baker will be conducted Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville, with Rev. Larry Giles and Rev. W.R. Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Toulson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Teresa was born on Des Moines, Iowa on March 31, 1952 to the late Rev. LeRoy Hannagan and Mrs. Patricia Johns Hannagan. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Rory Hannagan and Kim Hannagan. Teresa had lived in Baldwin County for a number of years, and retired from Rheem Manufacturing. She was a member of Hillside Church of God, where she was also the Pastor’s wife.

Teresa is survived by:

  • her husband, Rev. Paul Baker of Milledgeville
  • her daughter, Tamara Toulson (& Len) of Milledgeville
  • her sons, James Veal (& Renae) of Milledgeville, and Jeffery Baker (& Cindy) of Milledgeville

^^^ Shelia Tanner Brannan age 62, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27th at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Baldwin Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Brannan was born October 16, 1959, in Milledgeville, Georgia, to Georgia William Tanner and Frances Brown Tanner. She was a 1977 graduate of Baldwin High School. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a son Grayson Norris.

Survivors include:

  • her husband Tony Brannan of Milledgeville 
  • her son Gideon Norris (Lauren) of Roswell
  • stepchildren, Frank Anthony Brannan, II (Alex) of Pickins, SC, Ryan Carter Wright of Milledgeville, Kayla Elizabeth Brannan Edwards (Jacob) of Greenwood, SC and Makayla Nichole Wright of Milledgeville
  • her brother Kevin Tanner (Debbie) of Macon
  • 10 grandchildren

A native of Murfreesboro, TN, Nadine was born May 24, 1944 to the late I.T. Anderson and the late Sue Smith Anderson. Nadine was a home maker and a member of the Cathedral at Chapel Hill.

^^^ Bobby Stewart Evans, age 85, left us to be with his Master on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24th at Baldwin Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating.

Mr. Evans was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on July 2, 1936, to Jesse and Erline Layson Evans. He was retired from Rheem Manufacturing Co. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Lynn. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the church choir. He was very active in sport and was a volunteer baseball and football coach for Baldwin County Recreation Dept. for over twenty years.

Survivors include:

  • his wife Dixie
  • his son Wayne Evans (Beverly)
  • grandson Michael Evans (Brittney)
  • granddaughter Christa Collins (Rhett)
  • great granddaughter Sadie Kay Collins
  • stepdaughter Cindy Bowen (Mark)
  • two step-granddaughters Candace Diaz and Samantha Anderson

^^^ Dorothy “Ann” Durden Toler, age 59, of Milledgeville, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Funeral services for Ann Toler will be conducted Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville with Rev. Jacqueline Craig officiating. Interment will be privately held in Heritage Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday morning (10/23) from 10:00am until the service hour.

A native of Hancock County, Ann was born on October 11, 1962 to the late Hansel Felix Durden and Mrs. Jo Ann Reynolds Durden. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Hansel Felix “Rondo” Durden, Jr., Ann lived most of her life in Baldwin County. She was a Home Maker, and a member of the Methodist faith. 

Ann is survived by:

  • her husband, David Toler
  • her son, David R. Toler, Jr. (& Stacy)
  • her sister, Lorine “Susie” Shelby
  • her mother, Jo Ann Reynolds Durden

^^^ Celebration of Life for Mrs. Helen Simmons-Manson of Milledgeville, Georgia will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Mitchell Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 309 Union Hill Church Road Gordon, Georgia. Elder Rechard Larkin, Pastor, Reverend Leroy Allen will officiate. Helen entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Green Acres Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Manson.

Helen enjoyed sewing, decorating and cooking. She was very supportive to the Piney Grove Gospel Singers where her husband the late James Manson was the lead vocalist of the group.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Willie James Manson of Milledgeville, Georgia, three sisters, Roberta Havior Simmons, Wanda Williams, and Barbara (Clifford) Higdon, four grandchildren, Nicholas Manson, Elexis (William) Daniel, Willie Manson, Jr., Adonijah Curry and Kirsten Manson, four great grandchildren, Taylor Daniel, Trenton Daniel, Tyler Daniel and Cia' Lanna Curry also a loving host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends survive her.

^^^ Allen Candler Cleveland, III, age 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Grantville, Georgia on Sunday, October 17, 2021. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

“A. C.” grew up in Eatonton, Georgia. He made a career with Georgia Power where he spent the past 30 years as a lineman. He was extremely proud of his accomplishments throughout his career, but his greatest accomplishment was his children whom he loved with all his heart. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and most of all tinkering. A. C. was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Dora Peters Cleveland and Allen Candler Cleveland, Jr.

He is survived by:

  • his children, Brittan Austin (Jarrod) and Allen C. Cleveland, IV
  • wo granddaughters, Cecily Brooks and Bella Brooks (and a grandson on the way, Julius)

^^^ Clarence “Harvey” Holloway, of Milledgeville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday October 17, 2021 at the age of 76. 

Harvey was born on August 4, 1945 in Thomaston, Georgia to Clarence and Louise Holloway. Harvey joined the Georgia State Patrol after graduating from high school in 1963 as a radio operator. In 1966 Harvey was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army. He was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1968. Not only did Harvey serve his country, he served the citizens of Georgia for 34 years. In 1997 Harvey retired from the Georgia State Patrol as Sgt. First Class, Post Commander Post 33 in Milledgeville. After his retirement, he flew several years as a part time pilot for the Georgia Forestry Commission He loved to be with family and was always up for a road trip, reunion or gathering of friends. He always had a story to share or a joke to tell. He was committed to various groups and organizations and always willing to volunteer in leadership positions. He was an active member of several Christian motorcycle groups. He enjoyed camping with the Lucky 13 Good Sams. He was the strong patriarch of his family and a good friend to all. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. 

He was a great example as a husband, being married to his wife for 57 years, as a father, and as a Christian. He is preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Louise Holloway and sister, Bernice Elliott. 

Harvey is survived by:

  • loving wife, Toni Holloway of Milledgeville, Georgia
  • children, Mark Holloway (Lori) of Macon, Georgia, Tina Holloway Gillian (Scott) of Milledgeville, Georgia
  • Grandchildren Jordan Holloway, Taylor Holloway (Kellina), Josey Gillian and Nick Gillian
  • Great Grand-daughter Winry June Holloway

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 12PM with the funeral service at 1PM at Northside Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mrs. Mitcham was born in Wrightsville Georgia on January 7, 1943. She had made her home in Milledgeville for many years and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband John Paul Mitcham and a son John Paul Mitcham, Jr.

  • two daughters, Lisa Reynolds of Miami, FL and Karen Robinson of Thomaston
