Georgia College Family Weekend interrupted by gunfire

It was called "Grooving at the Grove," a meet-and-greet/concert at the Central State Hospital pecan grove for Georgia College parents.

However, "Grooving at the Groove" was interrupted by a rolling gunfight, however, which is how Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Maj. Brad King described it.

A description of the Grooving at the Groove event on GCSU's website

The rolling gunfight began between two vehicles on Edwards Street, located in the shadow of the Milledgeville Manor. The caravan then made a left on Swint Avenue and continued towards the pecan grove. The shooting continued all the way up the hill, through the red light and behind the Powell Building, where there was a vehicle accident. Multiple shell casing were recovered along the east end of the pecan grove on Swint Avenue.

In the process, one of the combatants was struck, according to investigators. That man was rushed to a Macon hospital and is expected to recover, according to investigators.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 445-4891, the MPD at 414-4000, or Crimestoppers at (478) 742-2330.
