(WILLIAMS FH) Mrs. Mildred Alice "Millie" Thompson Day age 69 passed away on November 20, 2021 succumbing to multiple health issues. She went peacefully at home with her husband of 52 years by her side. 

Millie was a native of Sylvania and had made her home in Milledgeville for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Bernard Thompson and Hilda Alice Powell Thompson Kinns.
She was the former manager of Brantley's Retirement Home and served her community with charity work through the American Association of University Women and also served on the board of Salvation Army. She was a devout Christian and attended First Baptist Church until her health failed her. 

Survivors include:

  • her husband Harry G. Day
  • sons, Ashley Day of Lawrenceville and Dylan Day of Marietta
  • brothers, Tommy Thompson of Savannah and Hill Thompson (Debbie) of Lake Sinclair

Private services will be held.




(PEOPLES FH) Celebration of Life for Mr. Frank James Nelson of Milledgeville, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at Victory Baptist Church, 640 Meriwether Road Milledgeville, Georgia. Reverend Grover Watson will officiate. The interment will follow at The Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Frank entered into rest on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his residence.

Frank was devoted and faithful member of St. Mary Baptist Church all of his life. He was a former member of The American Legion Post #523 in Milledgeville, Georgia. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era before coming to an end in 1975. He received an honorable discharge in 1976. He retired from the Department of Transportation as a foreman after 35 years of dedicated service.

He leaves behind:

  • his loving wife of 44 years, Mrs. Bessie Mae Solomon-Nelson
  • one daughter, Geneva (Raymond) Braziel of Milledgeville, Georgia
  • two sons, Frank (Brenda) Nelson of Gray, Georgia, and Ian (Ruth) Nelson of Milledgeville, Georgia
  • four lovely grandchildren
  • a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends

(WILLIAMS FH) Mr. Lester Irvin Fulton, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Funeral services were private. 

Mr. Fulton was the son of the late Irvin Fulton and Elizabeth Conover; he was a native of Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea, and received a Purple Heart. He also served with the Ohio State Patrol for 5 years, the Clinton County Sheriff's Office for 7 years, and worked for the City of Tampa as a Security Guard. He was a Nascar fan and was a member of the Protestant Faith. 

He is survived by:

  • a son, Greg Fulton (Allison)of Marietta
  • sister, Jeri Lee Tate (John) of Ohio
  • grandchildren, Nick Fulton, Madeleine Fulton, and Robert Decker.



(PEOPLES FH) We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Janice Josephine Jeffries.

Our beloved woman of God – mother, sister, and friend entered eternal rest on November 17, 2021.

Celebration of Life for Mrs. Janice Josephine Jeffries of Milledgeville, Georgia will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at The Augustus Austin Memorial Chapel of Peoples Funeral Home 950 N Clark Street Milledgeville, Georgia. Superintendent Dr. E.D. Brown, Sr. will officiate. The interment will follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, November 22, 2021.

Josephine was born on August 22, 1948 in Baldwin County to the parentage of Mr. Cowan Finney and Esther Mae Davis Finney who both preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Ollie Mae Austin of Akron, Ohio, and the love of her life and husband, Mr. Robert Lee Jeffries after 43 years of marriage.

Josephine was a sociable, loving and outgoing woman who was personable, and made a friend everywhere she went. Abounding in love, she gave of herself freely to others, She enjoyed spending personal time with God, her family, giving motherly advice to younger people, singing, creating decorative floral arrangements, interior decorating, reading, sewing, and cooking. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and served in various capacities at several churches throughout the years. She worked at Central State Hospital in Healthcare for many years before leaving the workplace to care for her family full-time and work alongside her husband in a family-owned business. Josephine was loving and supportive to all she fellowshipped with and a multitude of charity organizations. Josephine was a member of the Boddie Junior High Class of 1966.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

  • two daughters, Mrs. Monica Reeves and Mrs. Christina (Gregory) Edwards of Milledgeville, Georgia
  • Five sisters, Mrs. Ruby Henderson, Ms. Dora Finney, Mrs. Estella Nickelson, Mrs. Sherry (Bobby) Richardson, and Mrs. Ester Mae (Charles) Bowen of Columbus, Georgia
  • Two sisters in-laws, Mrs. Shirley Stevens and Mrs. Lizzie May Green both of Monticello, Georgia.
  • Three grandchildren, Jessica Ann Edwards, Paul Robert Reeves III, and Aaliyah Hill
  • a host of loving host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends

The family will receive guest at the home of one of her daughters, Mrs. Christina (Gregory) Edwards of 164 Helen Circle Milledgeville, Georgia 31061 in the days prior to the service during the hours of 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

(WILLIAMS FH) Mr. Donald Joseph "Mucko" Farrelly, 74, passed away on November 16, 2021. No Services are planned at this time. 

Mr. Farrelly was a native of Babylon, NY and had lived in Milledgeville for the past 21 years. He was the son of the late John Farrelly and the late Margrett Abrahams and was preceded in death by a brother, John Farrelly. He had worked at Grumman/Vaught for over 40 years. He loved fishing and basketball and had played for UNC.

He is survived by:

  • his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Farrelly of Milledgeville
  • sons, Seamus Farrelly of Eatonton, Chris (Christine) Farrelly of Milledgeville, Joe Farrelly of Milledgeville
  • grandchild, Morgan Farrelly

(MOORES FH) Anne Garrard Whorton, 93, passed away on November 16, 2021 after a brief illness. Anne was a retired teacher and was a member of Devereaux United Methodist Church. She worked for Glynco Naval Air Base in Brunswick, GA and retired after 32 years as a mathematics teacher from McIntosh County Academy in Darien, GA. She also taught school in Brunswick, GA, and Brownsville, TX.

She was the daughter of Marvin Wesley Garrard, Sr., Sara Elizabeth Bonner Garrard and Mary Franklin Tye Garrard, all of Devereux. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Madison C. Whorton, and her granddaughter, Melissa B. Friedman.

She is survived by:

  • daughters, Connie W. Bentz (Jesse), Elizabeth W. Lupo (Louie), Eve W. Williams (Don)
  • son, Russell Whorton (Janice)
  • grandchildren Amanda B. Tant, Teresa M. Campbell (Matt), Joshua McWaters, Rebecca M. Kamerschen (Robbie), Will Whorton and Caroline W. Udelhofen (Josh)
  • 11 great-grandchildren
  • sister, Jacquelyn G. Archer
  • brother, M.W. Garrard, Jr. (Pat)
  • sister-in-law, Ann W. Hughes (Stuart)
  • and many cousins, nieces and nephews

Pallbearers are William Whorton, Joshua McWaters, Lucas Tant, Matt Campbell, Jachin Campbell, Bebhin Campbell, Braxton Campbell and Marek Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Devereaux United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Reynolds Chapel Cemetery.
