A deputy was "conducting speed enforcement" Saturday night on the Fall Line Freeway when he clocked a car doing 101 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone, according to an incident report.
A traffic stop then was initiated near the Fall Line Freeway/Ga. 24 intersection, and the driver was identified as Lyzbeth Gonzalez. Gonzalez explained to the the deputy that her foot cramped up which was why she was going 101, according to the incident report, and the deputy asked Gonzalez to exit her vehicle. After the deputy explained to Gonzalez that she was under arrest and broke out the handcuffs, Gonzalez "pulled away" and yelled that "I didn't hear my rights." After "resisting arrest" some more and "backing away," the deputy "assisted Gonzalez to the ground." After some more back-and-forth, "Gonzalez steadily pulled away from (the deputy) and began kicking (the deputy)." The deputy then called for back up, while Gonzalez kicked some more, added the incident report.
Two more deputies then arrived, and Gonzalez kicked one of the new deputies, added the incident report. Gonzalez then was tasered and she stopped kicking.
Gonzalez ultimately was booked at the county jail and charged with felony obstruction of an officer, reckless driving and speeding. She was denied bond. Gonzalez had no previous local jail history.
