Georgia Military College Prep's annual BBQ Chicken Plate fundraiser, which always requires around 10,000 pounds of charcoal, is one of the largest and most tried-and-true fundraisers in Milledgeville.

If you've lived here long enough, chances are you've eaten a few plates – a half chicken barbecued with Mrs. Griffin's, white bread, baked beans, chips and pound cake. It's a massive undertaking, and the chickens are cooked on the supersized pit near the baseball/softball complex capable of barbecuing 2,016 chicken halves at once.

In a good year, volunteers can prepare around 9,000 plates, or roughly one for every five people living in Baldwin County. None of that would be possible, however, without a small army of ticket sellers – students, moms, dads, grandparents, cousins, alumni, faculty, whoever.

With this in mind, the school recently honored the students who sold the most tickets in each subgroup – K-2, elementary, middle and high.
