You can definitely tell that liquor store used to be a bank

A new liquor store is slated to open at the corner of Wayne Street and the Vinson Highway in south Milledgeville, and you can tell that the new liquor store definitely used to be a bank.

Milly Package Southside will join the original Milly Package store on North Columbia Street across from Goodie Gallery.

Occasionally, you can tell that a new business used to be something different, like how all of these businesses below definitely used to be Pizza Huts...

In this case, Milly Package Southside originally was a bank branch. The bank first opened in the late 1960s, back when the Southside's economy was humming, and Central State Hospital had roughly 10,000 patients/clients/consumers and was touted as "the world's largest insane asylum." In a sense, having a liquor store open inside of an old bank building is symbolic of the demise of the Southside's economy.

Milly Package opened on North Columbia Street in the fall of 2020, and the now the Wayne Street location is poised to open in the coming weeks.
