PLAYOFF TIME IN MILLEDGEVILLE: Lady Trojans rolling, headed to the Final 4

The John Milledge Lady Trojans are headed back to the Final Four.

JMA punched its ticket with  a 54-31 second-round win over Brookwood on Friday evening at the Trojan Center on Log Cabin Road. 

Head Coach Jeremy Mayweather's girls now get a nice break before heading down to Americus next Friday night for the GISA Class AAA Final Four.

The Lady Trojans had three double digit scorers in Maggie Prestwood, Allie Osborne and Kortnie Moore. Prestwood led the offensive charge with 17 points, most of which came in the second quarter, where she scored 11. She also added four assists and four rebounds to her name. Moore was the second leading scorer with 12 points in the night with half of her points being scored in the second quarter. She also had three steals in her line score. Osborne nabbed her second double double of the week, netting 10 points and corralling 12 rebounds.

JMA got off to a slow start, only scoring five points. Jordan Prestridge led the squad with a lone three point basket. Come the second quarter, the Trojans made the necessary adjustments as they knocked down 21 points. Prestwood scored eight points to command the offense. There were five different scorers in the second quarter to put JMA up 26-10 going into the half.

The Trojans stayed hot coming out of the half banking 18 points. Osborne led the scoring with six points as the rest of the scoring was distributed amongst four other scorers. JMA closed out the game scoring 10 points in the final quarter. Only three players netted points in the fourth quarter. John Milledge took the 54-31 lead to advance to the final four.

On Wednesday, meanwhile, JMA took down Westminster 52-24 in the first round

JMA had a strong offensive game scoring double digit points in three of four quarters. Two players had double digit points in the contest. Prestwood led the charge banking 19 points. She also added six assists and five steals to her boxscore. AllieOsborne banked the second most points with 11. Osborne nabbed a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Osborne also made her presence known in the paint blocking three shots. Prestridge was the third leading scorer on the night with six points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Trojans started out strong, netting 13 points in the first quarter. Prestwood banked two three point buckets to start her strong offensive night off. The JMA offense had four different scorers to start off the contest. The offense stayed hot moving into the second quarter netting 15 points. Prestwood netted nine points all coming from behind the arc. Three different Lady Trojans did the scoring in that second quarter going into the half leading 28-11.

The Trojan offense came out of the half still firing, netting a game high of 17 points. The third quarter scoring was distributed between six different shooters with Osborn leading the charge with four points. Avery Barton banked three points to add to the 17 of the quarter. The Trojan offense closed the game scoring seven points distributed between three new scorers in Ella Hudgins, Lucy Elliot, and Hannah Kate Glover, Hudgins led the scoring with four points to help lead JMA to the 52-24 victory.
