New playground equipment in the works for Central City/Bonner Park
It's the municipal park with three names.
People who've lived around here a while still call it "Bonner Park." Relative newcomers say "Central City Park," while for college kids it's "The Pit."
Regardless of what you call it, the playground equipment at the park definitely has seen better days. First installed roughly 25 years ago, the City Council currently is in the process of figuring out how to replace the playground equipment at the park.
City Manager Hank Griffeth and Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan discussed the matter with Baldwin2K News following Tuesday's regular meeting, which can be viewed directly below...
Griffeth also said that the City Council plans to bid the project out in June, adding that the project primarily will be funded by "SPLOST money." However, Griffeth added that he's also been contacted by several "citizen groups" who may be interested in donating as well and making the playground even bigger and better.
