You know it's a big event downtown when they close off Hancock Street.
Such will be the case this Friday afternoon, as Milledgeville Mainstreet returns with its "Hometown Celebration" event for the first time since 2019. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and not shut down until 11 p.m.
According to MainStreet, there will be:
• two live bands
• local dance teams
• community photos
• sidewalk sales
• arts & crafts
• book signings
• axe throwing
• giant board games
• an inflatable obstacle course
• sidewalk chalk
According to a MainStreet press release, the Hometown Celebration was first introduced back in 2014 and"honored the City of Milledgeville Main Street/DDA earning the award and designation as a national Great American Main Street City...Although the event had a hiatus due to the pandemic, the Hometown Celebration had become a community favorite event. On Friday, April 1st."
