Main Street is bringing the beach to downtown Milly this afternoon for the ninth year in a row at the First Friday Beach Bash.

Standard Sand and Silica Co. and Fowler Flemister have provided 80 tons of sand that will be dumped into the Post Office parking lot to transform the area into a coastal oasis. Parents are encouraged to bring beach chairs because the kiddos will not want to leave! Main Street will supply a variety of beach toys for the event, but also suggest First Friday patrons to bring their own. Tables, chairs, and restrooms will all be on-site during the event.

There will be a designated ‘beach’ area for the smaller kiddos to play along with kiddie pools and plenty of toys. First Friday favorite, Balloons and Parties out of Warner Robins will be providing face painting and will be transforming balloons into magical works of art.

The Beach Bash will kick-off at 6 p.m. and run well into the evening. Attendees are encouraged to stay late and get cozy with their feet in the sand dancing the night away to the beach sounds of Sam’s Drive-In Band. Sam’s Drive-In Band is one of Georgia’s best kept secrets. Hailing from Swainsboro, Georgia and the surrounding area, Sam’s Drive-In Band has been entertaining crowds since 2003. Performing beach music classics, oldie, as well as a mixture of classic rock and pop hits, the band is one Georgia’s favorites.

The newly formed Milledgeville Main Street Junior Board of Directors will be selling sodas and water, and back again for all of your snack needs will be Finesse Catering. Finesse Catering plans to serve funnel cakes, fried Oreos, cake slices, chips, and candy apples.

Be on the lookout for pirates roaming the galley! The Pirates of Lake Sinclair will be out and about greeting everyone.

Milledgeville Main Street will be giving out Hawaiian leis to the first 200 people in attendance that are ready to party the night away! There will be a special surprise guest couple who plan to drop by on their way in from their Hawaiian vacation. The kids will not want to miss this opportunity to visit with them.

Patrons can stay cool at the beach with a tasty treat from the famous Kona Ice truck. They will be selling yummy snow cones during Beach Bash as well.

Wear a Hawaiian shirt or pirate gear and plan to enjoy the night in downtown Milledgeville with Beach Bash 2022.

This event is made entirely possible by the generous donation of sand by Standard Sand and Silica Co., delivery by Fowler Flemister, and removal and clean up handled by City of Milledgeville Public Works Department. Special thanks to our wonderful Champion First Friday Sponsors Fickling Lake Country, WMVG 104.5, and Magnolia State Bank. These sponsors and partners deserve a huge thank you!
