Rhonda Nelson received her MFA in New Media Journalism in 2022 after receiving her BA in English: Creative Writing and Fiction at Southern New Hampshire University in 2016, and MFA Creative Writing from Full Sail University in 2020. She loves working with her colleagues and the animals in her care. She takes not only her education but her work with a serious attitude.
She writes fiction of many genres for thirty plus years from simple childish stories going to “mature” subject matter yet drawn to the plight and problems of today’s youth, she transitioned to the genre of YA Fiction with her series The Destiny Chronicles beginning with Discovering Destiny. There’s something about misunderstood youth that calls to her. No subject is taboo for her from adoption to abuse, she has written about almost all of it.
Growing up in the back woods of Kentucky with stories of Hobbits, Vampires, Cimmerians, rabid dogs named Cujo, along with Jedi (if you know what all those are, you’re as big a geek as she is) forever twisting her into her current, occasionally warped persona. Her friends check to see who is around before putting her on speaker phone. She has no filter at times, especially if she is passionate about a subject. One such subject is neonatal animal rescue.
With a fearless attitude, she packed up her belongings and moved from Kentucky to the great state of Pennsylvania where she lived for six years. She met amazing people and started her rescue work with neonatal animals. She then packed up and moved to Georgia where she continued her education online with Full Sail University of Florida. She continues her work with neonates. She shares her residence in Georgia with her sister, brother-in-law, her cat Khepri, her rescue Pitbull, Buddy, and Dogo Argentinos Piper, Butter, Cricket, and a menagerie of other animals.
